Watch: Sonic Mania Special Stages, Bonuses, and Time Attack

With only weeks away from the highly anticipated return to 2D in Sonic Mania, the team at Sega gave fans a first look at not only the new special stages, but a returning stage, bonuses, and a revamped time attack mode.

Avid fans of the time trial aesthetic in Sonic games will be happy to hear that time attack mode now gives players the ability to reload the level at any time quickly and easily. That way if you know you’re bumping into a few more walls than expected, you jet right back to the start and give it another go.

With so much flack being received about Sonic games being heavily 3D oriented, Sonic Mania is the love letter to fans letting them know that the Sonic they fell in love with is still here. With brand new and returning worlds to this colorfully vibrant 2D landscape, it’s no wonder that fans are clamoring to get their hands on what could be one of the best comebacks for Sonic Team.

What are you most excited for in Sonic Mania? Let us know in the comments below.
