Snoop Lion – formerly known as Snoop Dogg – is making a push into the world of video games.
According to Rolling Stone, the star’s making a – get this – combination rhythm/fighting game, which will have a storyline that centers around his life.
“They’ve incorporated the journey of my own personal reincarnation as Snoop Lion into my character – the environments and the path that players have to follow,” the rapper-turned-reggae singer says.
Apparently it’s coming out this year, titled “Way of the Dogg,” as a digital release for the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, iOS App Store, and Android‘s Google Play marketplace, using kung-fu and “blaxploitation” movies as an inspiration.
It’s not his first foray into gaming: in 2012 he was a downloadable character in Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and also did a few ads for FIFA 13. It’s also not the first time a rapper has been in a video game, as the Wu-Tang Clan had Wu-Tang: Shaolin Style in 1999, 50 Cent had Blood on the Sand in 2009, and we can’t forget the surprisingly good Def Jam: Vendetta that came out in 2003.
Whether or not Way of the Dogg will be as good remains to be seen, but one thing’s for certain: gamers haven’t seen the last of Snoop Lion.
