SimCity Opening Trailer

The SimCity series has come a long way since the 1980’s. Here we are, a few months away from Will Wright’s newest installment and Maxis is giving us a taste with the opening cinematic.

The video showcases what we love about the SimCity series, creation. It is also what gamers will witness once SimCity is loaded up. We have terraforming, global economy, and to achieve “Great Works” as seen by the rocket launch at the end of the video, among other things that makes SimCity what it is and what we love.

SimCity will feature multiplayer using Maxis’ SimCity 2000 Network, a new addition to the series. Players are still able to play solo, however to play both multiplayer and single player modes, you must be logged into Origin‘s server. This is a huge concern among SimCity fans, especially if their internet connection is lost. The safest bet is to safe often and the best option would to have an offline mode. A loss in connection might be a worse fate than a natural disaster destroying your city.

Regardless, SimCity is on its way, with a launch date for PC and MAC on March 5th and 8th. It will be available as a hard copy and digital download.
