The Sexy Brutale Delivers Gameplay Trailer and Launch Date

The Sexy Brutale, creation of Cavalier Game Studios and Rime developer Tequila Works, is launching on April 12th this year.

It must be quite hectic at the Tekila Works studio right now. They are not only developing and publishing Rime in May but they are also partnering with Cavalier Game Studios for an even earlier release. We are talking here about The Sexy Brutale, a game about murder, mystery…and British humor. Not necessarily in that order.

Thanks to their latest gameplay trailer, we know that The Sexy Brutale is coming in April 12 for all platforms. If you have not seen their last video, we recommend you to watch it.

The Sexy Brutale in a Nutshell

So, what’s the game all about? The main plot may resonate as something fairly familiar. There’s a Marquis’ mansion, there’s a masked ball with plenty of guests, and there’s murder. We take the role of priest Lafcadio Boone, who has to investigate all the assassinations taking place and uncover the mystery. Now you need to add a time loop mechanism to the formula. In The Sexy Brutale, Lafcadio and the rest are trapped in a never-ending day that keeps on repeating itself. But that paradox is precisely what the priest needs to keep on solving each crime riddle.

Cavalier co-founder and narrative director Jim Griffiths has described the game as being very British. From the mansion setting to the way characters play in, all of that seems to be rooted in British culture. So there’s that as well. Each of the partygoers holds a mask and a personality reflected on it – even, the sort of dead they are getting into.

Apart from the luring nature of the puzzles, each of their stories will gain in importance the more we get inside the mystery. As Griffiths has also said, it’s all about grabbing players with the story. The game has certainly grabbed us and we’ll be having a look when its release arrives.
