Saints Row: The Third Needed Improvements

I’ve been a big supporter of the Saints Row series since it was first launched as an Xbox 360 exclusive. In my opinion, its up to par with the recent GTA games that we’ve seen. Now, when I first received the news that Saints Row: The Third  was confirmed; I couldn’t help but turn on my console and play the hell out of SR2. I played the game so much that I came up with of a few ideas that would really improve SR3.

In Saints Row 2, you could freely roam the city, or complete missions with a friend. This was a pretty cool feature ,but with only one friend there is not much you can do. I suggest making it were it could be a party of four. The host and three friends ,or maybe even more practically a whole free roam city. You could either create a private free roam or join into a free roam with randoms. In this generation, online is the way to play; but what about those without online opportunities? There should also be a offline co-op feature as well.
Customization, in SR2 I enjoyed the customization to an extent. Basically, every time I joined a free roam with a random they would always seem to look similar to my character. I’m a pretty creative person but in SR2 you were only given so much. What I would like to see in SR3 is more customization levels. The clothes need look somewhat real, as in something you would see someone walking down street wearing. Not a bum outfit! There needs to be better color combinations, a more realistic feel(clothing wise), and better brands/sponsors. The voice overs need to be touched up. For an example, if I create a Chinese character I would at least expect him to sound Chinese if anything else. I also would like the hairstyles, body types, and facial appearances to appeal more realistic. We’ve witnessed 300 pound Sha-Nay-Nays run around the city of StillWater. Yeah its funny ,but it gets old I would like my character to look, sound, and dress somewhat similar to me.

After we’ve completed the game and the side missions, what else is there to do? I would like for there to be more things to purchase as in, houses, vehicles, clothes, jewelery, hoes, guns, etc. Yeah, that stuff was in SR2 but give us more, if possible I wouldn’t mind my character having a girlfriend or a hooker from time to time. Maybe even a larger city to explore.

Since the Saints Row series is built around gangs, 3 enemy gangs aren’t enough. I would like to see this number increase. While also improving the way the gang members look, where are the bandannas, the interaction with fellow gang members an pedestrians. Gang loyalty needs to be improved, there were times when I would be doing a mission in SR2 ,and I would team up with a few gang members only to find out that when the battle gets tough they disappear.

Custom Soundtrack is another thing that Saints Row is missing. Everyone loves listening to their favorite song while playing a game that they enjoy.

The online game modes need to be improved to the point were people would actually play them. We should have the option of creating gangs, the lobbies need to be improved, and a theater mode could be added.

Achievements have already been available on 360 ,but for PS3 the trophies never got added. Trophies definitely need to be added, it would make the game more replayable.

The macho clown gang that I’ve seen doesn’t look to appealing. They look like their from Toon Town or something, even the Ken look alike looks cartoonish. I like the thought of being unrealistic and fun but I would like the characters to look somewhat real.

Macho Clown Posse

All together, Saints Row is a great series and if mixed with some of these ideas it could be as big as the Grand Theft Auto series.
