UK based developer Rebellion has released a new trailer for the remastered version of the 2006 third person shooter Rogue Trooper. The newest video puts the spotlight on the remaster’s visuals. It is fascinating to see how far the game has evolved in the last 11 years.
Dubbed ‘Graphics Comparison’, the video showcases the various visual improvements made to the original 2006 game to bring it to modern technology. The 2017 edition features dynamic lighting, remodeled characters/weapons/vehicles, new special effects in addition to other improvements.
Along with the interesting comparison, the trailer also unveils the game’s release date: October 17th. The game was previously announced for the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Unfortunately, as of this writing the Switch version will be released at a later date. Thankfully, unlike other remasters who carry the same price tag as a triple AAA game, Rogue Trooper Redux will be budget-priced at $24.99. For someone who enjoyed the game way back in 2006, this sounds like a bargain.
For the lucky few who attended San Diego Comic-Con snagged the ability to try out the game. It will be a treat whether it was for the first time or taking another trip with the blue hero.
If you’ve been living under a rock or simply skipped the game, Rogue Trooper is a third person shooter set on the fictional planet of Nu-Earth. This is the setting for a war between the Norts and Southers. As Rogue, players set out on a mission of revenge against the Traitor General who killed the hero’s fellow soldiers. The game was originally released for PC, PS2 and Xbox in 2006; followed by a Wii version in 2009.
