Roccat's Kone XTD Optical Released in Europe and Asia

Roccat announced today, via press release, the launch of their new mouse, the Kone XTD Optical. The new mouse features a 6400 DPI sensor, a 1KHz polling rate, macros, and the usual assortment of buttons you’d expect from a gaming-focused peripheral, but its big new feature is the “Adjustable Distance Control Unit,” which Roccat says allows gamers to control how far off the ground you can lift the mouse before it stops registering input.

The “Adjustable Distance Control Unit,” which Roccat abbreviates “ADCU,” is presumably designed with two types of gamer in mind—both the gamer frustrated their high-end mouse keeps picking up mid-air movement when they reach the edge of their trackpad, and the gamer frustrated that they keep skipping out of control when their mouse movements get rougher and faster.

Unfortunately for American Game Fanatics, Roccat is only launching the Kone XTD Optical in Europe and Asia (for €89,99 or the equivalent Asian currency—that’s $122.78 for Americans or $130.61 for Aussies) right this second, although they promise a stateside release by the end of August.

Based on the stock photography above, the Kone XTD Optical is an attractive design on top of its impressive specifications. Hopefully some hands-on time with Fanatics will bear that out, come August or access to a European sample.
