Yes, you read it right, The Game Fanatics is the first site to bring you details of EA’s upcoming game, Command & Conquer Generals 2. We got the scoop on a release window for the game’s launch as well as collector’s edition and pricing details, find out after the break. With the layoff of the original Command & Conquer team, things looked bleak for the title, but in February of 2011 EA announced the creation of studio, Victory Games and later that year Command & Conquer Generals 2 was announced at the Spike VGA’s.
Information from a very credible source has now told us that EA is planning the soft launch of Command & Conquer Generals 2 sometime in Q1 2013, which would mean sometime before March. Now if you’re asking why has there not been a release date window if the game is set to be released so soon, pay special attention to the words soft launch. As with most Real-Time Strategy games, Command & Conquer Generals 2 is expected to have a ridiculously long tail, allowing it to be launched via a downloadable executable file months before a retail box hits the shelves.
Now we are also told that the Command & Conquer Generals 2 Collector’s Edition should launch in the fall and will feature a tank replica and/or exclusive DLC, and that Command & Conquer Generals 2 will be one of EA’s first games to feature “CLC”, or continuous live content.
Another thing of note is that Command & Conquer Generals 2 will be more EU focused, with Poland being the #1 country that’s playing the C&C games (Germany, Europe and others not far behind) you can see why. Command & Conquer Generals 2 will be priced “higher than previous games,” so expect this to be one of the PC games that breaks the $49.99 and probably even the $59.99 mark.
We’ll be checking with our sources and as more details on Command & Conquer Generals 2 surface we’ll be sure to keep you updated.
