Razer Upgrades The BlackWidow Chroma Keyboard

Razer’s BlackWidow keyboard has been one of the most popular Razer gaming keyboards since it was introduced back in 2010.

Razer is looking to improve the fan-favorite keyboard with additional choices in the BlackWidow Chroma V2.

The first and probably most obvious change is the addition of a magnetically attached wrist rest, similar to other models like the Ornata. While not everyone may be a fan of this feature, it is still a nice addition for those that do. The rest is also removable for those who don’t wish to use it.

The more substantial addition isn’t cosmetic; The BlackWidow Chroma V2 now comes with a third keyboard switch option: the new Razer Yellow switch. Razer currently offer both a Green and Orange model, which both offer tactile feedback. The new Yellow switch is a linear, silent design which features a reduced travel distance. Razer says that this allows for faster key presses and a quieter design should appease people who love the added function of mechanical keyboards but could live without the non-stop clicking.

As is common with most of Razer’s offerings, the BlackWidow Chroma V2 features Razer’s Chroma lighting, featuring individually backlit keys with an offering of 16.8 million colors per key, as well as the Chroma effects. It also features 10 key roll-over anti-ghosting and full programmable keys with on-demand macro recording.

It is a great addition to an already solid gaming keyboard. The best part is that even with these added features, including the wrist rest, the price remains the same at $169.99 and are available now.
