Ratchet and Clank Warp to PS3 Next Month with Into the Nexus

Insomniac Games announced yesterday that its next installment in the Ratchet and Clank franchise, Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus, will be available on store shelves and PSN on November 12.

Into the Nexus is an epilogue to the Ratchet and Clank Future series, which last left off with 2009’s A Crack in Time. Following a couple of series spinoffs, Insomniac is returning to the classic single player action platformer formula that helped define the Playstation 2 era of gaming. That means players will pick up and upgrade a hefty arsenal of weapons, gadgets, and, if we’re lucky, perhaps a Sheepinator.

Having just captured Vendra Prog, Ratchet and Clank are off to an intergalactic detention center when a jailbreak forces them to the deepest part of space. Along their journey, Ratchet and Clank will run into familiar faces such as Captain Quark, Talwyn, Cronk, and Zephyr. Players primarily control Ratchet although there will be a series of missions exclusively for Clank.

Insomniac has developed the Ratchet and Clank franchise steadily over the past twelve years, even after the Future titles. In 2011, the Durham, North Carolina studio released the four-player cooperative platformer Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One and followed that up with the cross-platform Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault (with the Vita).

Insomniac is also currently at work on its Xbox One debut title, Sunset Overdrive — an open-world shooter.

Ratchet and Clank: Into the Nexus will retail for $29.99. Select retailers are featuring a pre-order bonus of Ratchet’s Pyronox Armor. Amazon is also rewarding pre-orders with $30 worth of Playstation Home content.
