PS Vita Spotlight | Gravity Rush

Where is Gravity Rush 2? Last year at the Tokyo Game Show, Sony teased us with a trailer featuring Gravity Rush heroine Kat flying and swirling around as it closed with the words, “Fall again…a new project from Team Gravity.”  We have not heard much regarding the new project ever since. Did it get canned due to poor Vita sales? Or perhaps being developed for the PS4? We may never know but we do know that if you’re a Vita owner looking for a whimsical action RPG to play on the go, you can download Gravity Rush right now off the PS Store for about $13.

It’s a game beloved by many Vita owners for its beautiful artwork and an infectious soundtrack. It’s one of the few Vita exclusives that really use the capabilities of the Vita’s touchscreen exceedingly well and the gameplay is so innovative in the way you manipulate gravity that it’s hard to imagine playing Gravity Rush without touchscreen controls. Kat is a great character that really strengthens and embraces the importance and need for strong female characters in video games. She is strong-willed, opinionated and kicks proper ass. She doesn’t wear skimpy clothes or is ever in need of rescue, she is laser-focused on the task at-hand and she never gives up.

Gravity Rush has a fantastic battle system that borrows elements from Kingdom Hearts and Okami, it’s fierce and fast-paced as you have the entire map at your disposal. You can also walk around the different towns and interact with the townsfolk, do side-missions, or just fly around the world like an Infamous game if you pleased.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed for Gravity Rush 2 to make an appearance at this year’s Gamescom so if you haven’t played it yet, head on over to the PS Store and download Gravity Rush today!
