On the most recent episode of The Tonight Show we saw Josh Topolsky of The Verge appear alongside Jimmy Fallon and Channing Tatum demonstrating Sony’s Project Morpheus. The aim of the demo was to destroy an armored dummy. Jimmy’s avatar was armed with just his fists, Channing’s with a cross bow. They each had a pair of move controllers to control their hands, something we have seen previously at GDC, when the Morpheus was originally unveiled.
The demo is only a few minutes long and it ended with the appearance of a dragon which appeared to eat Jimmy and Channing. Graphically the demo wasn’t exceptional however we can presume it was running at 1080p and 60fps. The motion control seemed to work fairly well although it appeared to be slightly unpolished, however it is only a tech demo/proof of mechanics and Project Morpheus seems to be at least a year away from release. Both of them appeared to be enjoying it and impressed. Josh also seemed to be particularly impressed by the demo. We don’t know if it was running on a PS4 debug or a PC/Dev kit. If we had to guess we’d put our money on the latter due to the lack of release information however a debug unit isn’t out of the question.
Will you be purchasing Project Morpheus when it releases? What did you think of the demo? Let us know either in the comments or on Twitter.
