In 2008, Sony launched what would be the beta for the Playstation Home. Some three years and 23 million users later, the company is ready to upgrade it and give it a more social gaming feel.
Jack Buser, director of PlayStation Home spoke with Kotaku and VentureBeat about the new addtions coming to Playstation Home.
“This is a giant leap in the evolution of the platform,” Buser said. “We are going to ‘up level’ games as the heart of PlayStation Home. This means that Home itself is going to become a game. The first things you see when you get into Home are games.”
Home will now become “The Hub”, and will integrate games, quests, community events and user-generated content. The Hub will now be its own kind of “meta game,” where users can earn points for game-like activities that they engage in.
No solid date has been given when the upgrade will take place but soon is the word around the water coolers.
