What We Played October 8 -14

Welcome to Press Start! This is a weekly segment that dives into what we here at  are currently playing. Feel free to leave a comment with what you’ve been playing or if you have any questions about the games that we are currently involved with.

Jen: I am really digging my Jedi Shadow in Star Wars the Old Republic. It feels like she’s really going through the game rather quickly, faster than my other two 50 characters. Rock Band Blitz got another workout as I tried to get more achievements in that game. NiGHTS into Dreams got a little attention, but with XCOM now out, that went to the front of my game time. Especially since I’m reviewing the XB360 version while my husband, Chris, who is a long time XCOM fan, will be reviewing the PC version of the game. Hopefully we can get the review done by next week for you guys.

Jeff: I’m going back through Vanquish, this time to unlock the special challenges, and it’s still a lot of fun. Also fun is Super Mega Worm, an 8-bit homage to Tremors on the iOS app store. But, oddly enough, most of my gaming time this week went to an odd little flash game that goes by Cat Mario Impossible. With a name like that, you can imagine the designers may have been too pretentious about their level design, but, believe me, it’s not a boast- it’s a warning.

Enis: I finally beat Skyrim‘s main quest line. Now I’m on my way to 100% for achievements. Downloaded Mass Effect 3‘s new DLC, Retaliation. Awesome! The new Havok levels and redesigned maps are great and adds a huge change of pace to each game. Caught a glimpse of all the new characters coming out soon, which I think they did on purpose? Not sure honestly, but Saturday late night I got the Volus Adapt and Engineer back to back – hilarious!!! So fun to play. What I’m aiming for though is the new Turian Havok Soldier. I also got the chance to play with John again, always a pleasure even though he can’t use a headset…come on Italy!!! Anyways, as Halo 4 draws ever so close I’ll continue to stay “dark” and stick with Halo: Reach until Nov. 6th.

(Speaking of Skyrim and Halo…)

Joel: I have been playing NBA 2K13, mostly online match-ups which has been a lot smoother than 2K12. I was able to fit in some Borderlands 2 and played some co-op with my friend. There’s nothing like running around shooting baddies with a friend, especially with all of the amazing guns in Borderlands 2!

Brittany: Charles is a walker. That is all. Oh and I played Borderland 2. Once with Greg.

Ben: Been playing some more Resident Evil 6 co-op and also hunting trophies. Other than that, I started playing Kingdoms of Amalur and it is really good. Perfect blend of action combat and RPG goodness. I’ve only been playing it for a handful of hours but it is already one of my favorite games to come out this year. I only wish I had played it sooner.

Logan: From the little amount of time I had to actually game I was able to get some Resident Evil 6 in and some Pokemon White 2. Having been able to do some Co-op action in RE6 with Ben was pretty awesome. In spite of how the majority of the internet feels on the game, I think it is a pretty awesome game. Pokemon White 2 is exactly what I want from a Pokemon game and it being a sequel to an actual story with some nice additions makes it a unique entry in the series.

Jake: Breeding all the things! …I’m talking about Pokemon Black and White 2, of course. Dishonored is pretty amazing as well.
