The Playd app lets you scan the UPC of a game to check-in and announce to your friends what you are playing. You can also add XBLA and PSN games and all games entered earn tokens that function similarly to achievement points but they may be redeemable for free stuff soon.
The app also lets you chat with people about the games you are playing and it’s not limited to just Playd users.
I would say this is a silly idea but so was foursquare and this sounds better than that idea. Plus games are 2.4 times as cool as going to physical locations.
If I had a smart phone and friends who wouldn’t mind me bombarding them with what I’m playing all the time, I’d for sure give Playd a shot.
