The Game Fanatics Asks: Which Platform Should You Be Gaming on in 2016?

2016 is well underway, and it’s shaping up to a phenomenal year for gaming. As consumers, we’re reaping the rewards of a free market – we have a lot of options to choose from when it comes to video game platforms, developers, and genres.

Some could argue that this is a blessing and curse, because hasn’t the console market taken a hit thanks to the vast array of alternative gaming platforms that it now has to compete with? Thankfully though the ability to choose is one that exists, and our choices are not too varied in cost, at least for the most part.

So which platform should you be gaming on this year?

PLAYSTATION 4

The PS4 is still one of the top selling next generation consoles around and in spite of the heavy competition it now faces from other emerging platforms it is doing its best to hold its own. However it’s the mobile market that offers more convenient and cost effective games and apps that are now taking a much bigger slice of the pie. Thankfully the PS4 is still a sleek and powerful little magic machine that is gamer focused and thanks to its online multiplayer facility it’s particularly a collective gaming experience.

XBOX ONE

Ever since its arrival back in 2001 the Xbox has always felt innovative, especially as it was the new kid on the block. Since then it has evolved into a powerful and influential gaming platform. The Xbox One took things a step further and boosted what was under the hood as well as upgrading the Kinect motion controller. For gamers it’s fantastic as they’ll be able to take advantage or their online service, downloadable content and other add-ons, and now even Windows 10 compatibility.

PC

Gaming-PC

PC gaming has had a resurgence over the past few years and it’s already helped put a question mark over the future of traditional console gaming. The key to the PC’s success is its flexibility. A PC can pretty do everything that its console counterparts can with the added bonus that you can chop and change various aspects of the machine. Of course it’s this interchangeable setup that often overwhelms gamers who may not be familiar with their options. Sure you can buy PC DVD’s, but with options like Steam and downloadable software from online casinos for example, you can get up and running very quickly. Downloadable casino software in particular, such as the Red Flush online casino software, is proving more and more popular with PC users due to the fact it is free to use, on demand and avoids the inconvenience of having to download from a physical disk.

STEAM MACHINE

Yes, it looks like an owl.

Valve Software’s Steam Machine is a pre-built gaming machine and what makes it particularly interesting is the fact that there’ll be a number of different models being released as manufacturers join forces in creating their own unique setup and spec. There’s plenty of power under its rather un-sizeable hood which is pretty exciting and gamers will be able take full advantage of an impressive quantity of games available to play.
