If you were looking forward to playing with your PC buddies in Planetside 2 on your PS4, think again. Sony Online Entertainment Creative Director Matt Higby recently told Eurogamer that its just not going to be possible.
“Because of the update cadence, and the additional steps you have to go through to be able to release an update on the PlayStation network, we’re not going to be able to keep our servers in sync, so you won’t be able to just play with the same people.”
The good news is you’ll be able to transfer your character between platforms. According to Higby, “the character format’s the same on both, it’s just purely a matter of the server updates.”An update from a PlanetSide2 rep states that character transfers are not confirmed, but something the development team is currently investigating the possibility of.
Planetside 2, which is more of a remake of the original, hugely popular Planetside that first released in 2003, has been available on PC since this past November. It was announced back in June, that both Planetside 2 and DC Universe Online with be available on PS4 and will remain free to play, regardless if you have a PlayStation Plus subscription or not.
