Meet Efi Oladele, Overwatch’s Possible Newest Character

Overwatch Teases Efi Oladele

It looks like the next Overwatch character announcement may be coming soon. Blizzard has revealed the next in a long line of Overwatch teases, the latest surrounding the character Efi Oladele.

Over the past couple of months, the Blizzard team has been dropping small hints, leading fans to the assumption that a character named Doomfist will be added to the roster. Earlier this week game director, Jeff Kaplan, posted to the forums with a somewhat cryptic blurb that fans may be getting ahead of themselves saying, “24 is not who you think it is.” While it seems like it could be straightforward, Overwatch reveals rarely are. Kaplan could mean that hero 24 will not be Doomfist, or he could mean that hero 24 is Doomfist but won’t be voiced by Terry Crews.

With yesterday’s latest post on Overwatch’s site, it’s looking like it may be the former. Coming from Atlas News’s Spotlight On Numbani, Blizzard released an “Interview With Inventor Efi Oladele.” Efi is an 11-year-old genius who has built her renown on robotics and artificial intelligence. She speaks about how she wants to make the world better and build machines to make it a safer place, and she also has plans on how to use her genius grant but is keeping them secret for now.

Efi Oladele – Numbani’s Brightest

What kind of character Efi Oladele would be is an entirely different question, but seeing as she’s 11 and specializes in building drones and robots, it’s probably a safe bet that she won’t be the next Roadhog. We’ll likely be seeing another turret-based player, hopefully with a mobile robot friend, making her more of a pet class (although we wouldn’t hate another awesome girl in a mech suit). Either way, Efi looks like she’d be a great addition to Overwatch’s already beautifully diverse cast.

Who do you think the next Overwatch hero will be? If it’s Efi, what do you think her abilities will be? Let us know in the comments.
