Watch: The New NieR: Automata Trailer is Glorious

NieR Automata for PlayStation 4

Square Enix is back with a new teaser trailer for the ever awesome looking NieR: Automata, this time in the form of the obscurely titled “Glory to Mankind 119450310” trailer. Hype around NieR: Automata has been building steadily, especially with the gameplay footage reveals and playable demo released towards the end of 2016. And now that we’re three weeks out from NieR: Automata’s release date, the game is looking better than ever.

Combining elements of action and RPG games set in a beautifully dystopian sci -fi future overrun by machines, NieR: Automata puts you in the heels of YoRHa No. 2 Model B, or “2B” for short. Accompanied by the emotional reconnaissance android 9S, you’ll explore an update to the world created in PS2’s Drakengard and PS3’s Nier.

The new trailer is one of the most exciting reveals yet as it gives more of a glimpse into the environments and characters of NieR: Automata, albeit in a truly obscure and epic Square Enix fashion. A sexy robot boy band, a giant mech suit, some truly amazing looking combat, the reveal of 2B’s eyes from behind her magic see-through blindfold, and more all add to the mystery and intrigue leading to the game’s release. There’s also some greenery pictured for a brief second, which serves as a nice contrast to the mechanical wasteland experienced in the playable demo–especially considering the at-least-partially open world environment the game is supposed to take place in.

NieR: Automata is due out on February 23rd in Japan and March 7th in the West on both PS4 and PC.  Are you excited to kick some robot ass and take the world back from the machines? Do you have any theories on the how the plot will unfold or why the white haired robo boys have such lengthy torsos? Let us know in the comments below.
