Ni No Kuni will be Released in the US on PS3 this Winter

Earlier this week, Namco Bandai Games America Inc. announced in a press release that the upcoming PS3 exclusive, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, will be released this Winter in North America. This collaboration between video game studio Level-5 and animation giant Studio Ghibli, the genius behind many of the greatest Japanese animated films of all time has everyone here at the Game Fanatics extremely excited, and for very good reason.

The story centers on a young boy named Oliver, who sets out on a journey through his world and an another dimension to become a magician, so that he will have the ability to bring his mother back from the dead. On his strange journey he befriends and raises creatures to aid him in battle against impressive looking enemies that stand in his way.

Level-5 is known for highly acclaimed RPG titles such as Dragon Quest VIII, Dragon Quest IX, and the Professor Layton series. Studio Ghibli is Japan’s version of Disney Animation. Having these two studios working together on an RPG seems almost too good to be true. I personally cannot wait to experience a Level-5 RPG with a storyline as moving and engaging as Studio Ghibli’s films like Princess Mononoke, Castle in the Sky, Howl’s Moving Castle, Porco Rosso, and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind just to name a few.

Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch has already been released in Japan, and even has it’s own “Magical Edition” PS3 which comes painted in gold and white, with a little graphic of Oliver’s little sidekick Drippy. Sadly, it seems this version of the PS3 will only be released in Japan.

Stay tuned here at the Game Fanatics for everything you want to know about Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch.
