New York Comic Con | Lords Of The Fallen Hands-On

At this years’ New York Comic Con, there were a few games you could’ve gotten your hands on before release, all of which we talk about here. One of those games was Lords Of The Fallen, an epic story that follows Harkyn, a condemned criminal. When humanity is under attack he is sent to try to redeem his name and possibly his life.

In Lords Of The Fallen, Harkyn battles through two dimensions, one human and the other demonic. One thing that popped out to us was the sheer beauty of the game. Having it been developed for next-gen systems, you can tell that the developers as CI Games went all out in creating a dark, and ghastly atmosphere for the game. The grit of the levels and the grotesque opponents looks amazing under the new light rendering mechanic.

We unfortunately only got to play a short demo of the game, but that’s all we needed. During out game play, we could immediately tell that this is going to be just as brutal as Dark Souls. However, the added relief of regular checkpoints drew some distinction.

Combat is slow and steady and there is a heavy playing style. Though Lords Of The Fallen is a hack ‘n’ slash considering the difficulty of your enemies, it isn’t wise to just run in and start attacking. Planning where and how you hit will rather save you a lot of lives and frustration.

Overall, we’re pretty excited to play the full version of the game. Lords Of The Fallen should be a sufficient way to hold us over until Bloodborne comes out. Lords of The Fallen releases for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Oct. 28.
