New DLC Maps Confirmed for Star Wars Battlefront

Battlefront

EA and DICE have announced a list of Star Wars Battlefront expansions with new maps for this year. The Death Star is among them.

EA and DICE have spoken out and announced a plethora of DLC aimed to give Star Wars Battlefront players tons of content during 2016. This announcement emerges to counteract those critics that were emphasizing  the game’s repetitiveness and general lack of weapons, characters and maps only a few months after its launch.

The newest DLC, Battle of Jakku, released last December, seems to have created a precedent. Since then, the team has been busy tuning and improving the overall game. Apart from the paid DLC titles that they have announced, we can expect free expansions throughout 2016 as well. New modes, daily challenges, characters, weaponry and vehicles will make it into the Star Wars Battlefront universe, providing exciting features for the fans, says DICE on their latest blog post. The contents for the update of January have been already posted.

There are still a lot of questions around the actual content of each future expansion though. The names and backgrounds of the maps have been published but that’s pretty much it so far and fans are left to wonder.

All these updates will come for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC versions and they are the following:

  • Outer Rim DLC (March) – Fight among the factories of Siullust and battle within Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tatooine.
  • Bespin DLC (Summer) – It’s hunt or be hunted in this action-packed experience set in the Cloud City of Bespin.
  • Death Star DLC (Fall) – That’s no moon! One of the most iconic locations in the Star Wars universe makes its debut in the game.

Players will be able to purchase each expansion separately if they wish. Another alternative is to get hold of the Star Wars Battlefront Season Pass, which can be purchased already across different online stores and platforms, and that will grant access to all contents as they keep on coming out.

A fourth DLC has also been announced for early 2017 but its location and scope are yet to be defined.
