New Character Announced for Street Fighter V

Street Fighter V

Capcom announced at EVO 2015 a new character for Street Fighter V and what their plans are for releasing content after the game’s release.

The long running series’ new character, named Necalli, has a wide variety of attacks. More details about the character will emerge in the coming months with this initial Capcom release providing some information on the new fighter in the meantime.

“Possessing a wide variety of savage and close range attacks, all of Necalli’s moves have been forged through the heat of battle to ensure he’s inflicting maximum pain upon his opponents,” Capcom’s press release said. “Making full use of the Battle System mechanics, Necalli’s V-Skill allows him to pound the ground with both fists, creating an explosion that damages the enemy whereas the powerful V-Trigger allows him to channel a mysterious energy that changes his hair colour and alters his personality for a short period of time.”

Capcom also explained that all post-launch gameplay related content could be earned as you play Street Fighter V and it won’t cost you a thing. There was no mention of the method to unlocking new characters, modes or whatever else is planned, but the company assured that it would be possible to pick and choose which DLC players specifically wanted to unlock and commit to that path. Although, if players would like the content right away, purchasing options will still be available.

Street Fighter V will release in March 2016 for the PlayStation 4 and PC with a roster of 16 characters and more participants to be added continually. The beta for the game is right around the corner on July 23 with access promised to pre-order holders.
