A New Battlefield is Coming in 2018

Battlefield

The change of direction that EA has given to the Battlefield franchise has proven very fruitful so far. Jumping back to World War I not only fueled players’ imagination big time but also, cashed in way more sales than Battlefield 3 or Battlefield 4 ever did. As time passes, DICE keeps on adding new content to their epic game, proving that this all-war universe is everything but finished. Now it looks like there’s going to be even more Battlefield content coming down our path.

During a recent investor’s call, Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson confirmed that a new game is in the works. Moreover, he mentioned 2018 as a plausible window for the game’s release. Unlike the drills of Activison, which have us used to their yearly release cycle, EA wants the DICE team finishing up first their forthcoming Star Wars: Battlefront II, slated for November 17.

Battlefield‘s Next Location: Unknown

While no further details have surfaced so far, Wilson also announced that the next game will make use of the Frostbite engine once again, which already fueled Battlefield 1‘s incredible environments.

When it comes to the future setting, different paths seem possible here. On one hand, the next title could continue with a follow-up to either their latest installment or their acclaimed Bad Company. For the sake of originality and humor, we rather op for this second possibility. On the other hand, EA has never closed the door for a Battlefield: Hardline continuation, although Visceral Games is now occupied with another Star Wars exclusive – so there’s that. Whatever happens, we’ll need to wait still some months until something more tangible comes up.

What do you think, Fanatics? Are you looking forward to this new Battlefield game? What kind of setting would you like to see in this new installment? Let us know in the comment section down below!
