The world has gone to hell in the latest trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us, which sets up the story for the DC Comics fighting game. The team behind Mortal Kombat 9 has been working hard on Injustice: Gods Among Us, which hits PC, Xbox 360, Wii U, and PlayStation 3 on April 16th, and that includes a story that – combined with the tie-in digital and print comic – hits some dark notes. This latest trailer shows us a glimpse at what caused the Justice League – except for Batman, of course – to take over the world in an alternate reality to the mainstream DC Universe.
The trailer’s big moment – the Joker apparently blowing up Metropolis, the city Superman calls home, isn’t even the biggest part of the story, if spoilers from the comic are to be believed. Be ready for a big departure, comic fans.
Injustice: Gods Among Us has been getting a lot of praise from the gaming community lately, with the gameplay crafted by Netherrealm Studios, who hit a home run with the reboot of Mortal Kombat. You’ll be using your environment to your advantage, as well as using “Super Moves” instead of Fatalities. So far, 15 playable characters have been confirmed, with more expected via DLC.
