NAMCO BANDAI and Paramount team up for new Star Trek game. Fans potentially excited.

NAMCO BANDAI has announced they will be teaming up Paramount Pictures to publish a new Star Trek video games, aiming to be released early 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PC. The new game will take place prior to J.J. Abrams’ next Star Trek movie and, hey NEW STAR TREK MOVIE! The story will be standalone story where Kirk and Spock have to save the galaxy from some legendary evil, or every episode of Star Trek ever. You need a galaxy saved, you call Kirk and Spock. And Bones.

“Star Trek continues to be one of the most beloved entertainment properties around the world, and NAMCO BANDAI Games America is extremely excited to be teaming up with Paramount Pictures to create the definitive Star Trek interactive experience,” said Carlson Choi, VP of Marketing for NAMCO BANDAI Games America Inc.

A pre-alpha build and trailer were released at E3 and were met with accolades. The game is being developed by Digital Extremes, known for Bioshock 2, Dark Sector, and most recently, The Darkness 2. Overseeing production will be Paramount’s Creative Executive Brian Miller. BAFTA award winner Marianne Krawczyk (God of War) will be writing the story with help from producers from the movie.

There have been many Star Trek games over the years, most have not been that good. I’m hoping NAMCO BANDAI can put together a solid Trek game. It looks like a very solid team they have assembled. Look for the new game before the movie’s release on May 17th, 2013.
