Mortal kombat 2011 will appeal to the hardcore fighter

Mortal Kombat’s co-creator, Ed Boon, recently had the chance to sit down with ShackNews to discuss the next iteration in the series, Mortal Kombat 2011. As many of you know, this game first debuted at E3 2010 earlier this year and those in attendance and watching via live stream were blown away by what the game had to offer so early in its life cycle.

One of the things Boon mentioned in his interview was that this is going to be the first Mortal Kombat really targeted towards the hardcore gamer within the fighting genre. However, Boon also made it clear that this should not make newbies to the franchise hesitant as the game will still offer welcoming settings to those types of players as well.

“This is the first Mortal Kombat game where we are consciously putting in features for the hardcore/tournament fighters and we have some amazing fighting game “experts” playing our game and giving us constant feedback,” said Boon.

“At the same time we want the game to be accessible for all Mortal Kombat players, so there is something for all types of fans. It’s important for us that anyone can pick up the controller and have fun right away,” he added.

Furthermore, fans of the series can expect most, if not all, of their favorite characters to make either an appearance or cameo within the game. Considering developers now have the ability to create DLC, it could result in the roster being expanded beyond what it originally intended to be as well. Hopefully though, the developers don’t use DLC as a money tree for characters they could have easily placed in the game from the get go.
