Monster Hunter fans that own a Wii U and/or Nintendo 3DS are in luck, as the latest entry in the franchise now has a firm release date. Capcom announced via press release today that Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will be hitting both the Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS on March 19th in North America, with a European launch coming three days later on the 22nd. The full game will also be available for digital download thru the Nintendo eShop during that timeframe, and the Wii U version will be able to use the system’s voice chat features.
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is an expansion of the Wii-exclusive Monster Hunter 3, and offers not only a graphical upgrade, but you’ll also be able to share game data and saves between the 3DS and Wii U versions. The Wii U version also offers online play. Both versions are already out in Japan and got high scores from the traditionally tough Famitsu.
For those unfamiliar with the franchise, the premise is simple: you hunt monsters, use what you get from battles to upgrade your equipment, and repeat in a cycle of addictive and challenging gameplay. If you’re on the fence, or would like an early taste of the action, a demo of both the 3DS and Wii U versions will be on the Nintendo eShop on February 31st.
