Get your weapons at the ready because Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is now in stores.
It has been several years since we have gotten a Monster Hunter release but the wait is now over. The latest in the series, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, is out for both 3DS and Wii U and it even features cross save functionality between the two.
The basic idea of the game is to, obviously, hunter monsters and it features plenty of those. However, it is also about being prepared and crafting new weapons and armor in order to better take on foes. It’s a game that requires a good amount of skill and patience in order to truly master.
The Wii U version features online play for up to four players to go out and take down giant creatures. It is even possible to for 3DS and Wii U players to take on quests together (but not online).
I’ve already written a preview of the demo where I was quite critical on the series’ refusal to adapt for dual analogues and modernize some of the other features. However, the Monster Hunter series is still a ton of fun and there really isn’t anything else like it.
Anyway, get ready to hunt a lot of monsters until BioShock comes out because that’s what I’ll be doing.
