Xbox One‘s first party games will be $59.99. Confirmed by Microsoft, the price for a first party Xbox One game will be at the current price as their current generation console the Xbox 360. However, Microsoft did not confirm if this meant that third party titles could be priced more than $59.99.
Not many more details were released on this matter but it makes the industry and consumers with a huge question, “With limited resale or possibly no resale value at all for Xbox One games, is $59.99 too steep?” More questions to follow include, “should downloadable titles be less expensive due to the lesser cost of no packaging, or cover art, and game manual?”
Sony has not confirmed the actual cost of their first party titles but did mention previously that they would be no higher than $60 dollars, which is good news considering their current generation PlayStation 3 titles are also at the current $59.99, and the ability to resell, trade, and buy used games on the upcoming PlayStation 4.
Even with E3 behind us, there are still many questions that we have unanswered from Microsoft, but one thing is sure, this console war is not over. As many consumers and gamers focus on the mandatory internet connection, and foggy used game guidelines, there were plenty of Xbox One exclusive titles to look forward too, and especially with a solid $59.99 price tag for first party titles, the Xbox One is looking to have a very bright future ahead.
