MGSV: The Phantom Pain Gamescom Trailer Arrives

The Phantom Pain

The Phantom Pain has come to Gamescom, handing out what might be the final trailer before the game’s release in less than a month.

Konami has brought a section of this incredibly-hyped title to Gamescom for attendees to play while the rest of us get a trailer as a consolation prize. You could do worse than a Hideo Kojima trailer that’s cut and strung together to make even the pre-release experience feel like watching a trailer for a movie you’re dying to see.

The Phantom Pain
The wait is real….

You could make the argument that this is the most cinematic trailer for The Phantom Pain yet, which is saying something. A few new sights and sounds offer some interesting insight into the layers that Kojima hasn’t peeled back to the public yet. A massive villa that seems to be set in the side of a mountain can be seen while Code Talker warns Big Boss of a nuclear threat. Also, probably Psycho Mantis and probably Colonel Volgin make their presences felt for the first time since the initial teaser three years ago.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on September 1. Metal Gear Online won’t be coming to console until October 6 and PC until January of next year. Check out our running countdown of Metal Gear games leading up to Kojima’s final chapter here, here and here.
