Mechwarrior Online Enters Closed Beta – Announces Early Access

Have you been pining for massive mech destruction? Well, good news then. Piranha Games Inc. announced that MechWarrior Online entered closed beta as of May 22, 2012.

The closed beta access will be limited to an invite-only basis, of course, but don’t lose hope yet!

Along with the closed beta announcement, MechWarrior Online has detailed its aptly named Operation Inception program. Operation Inception will allow you to begin playing July 17th with some nice goodies, depending on your payment choice.

For the $60 ELITE Founder’s Package, you’ll receive:

  • Exclusive custom “Founder’s Battlemech.” This Mech includes a lifetime, per-match C-Bill booster.
  • $80 value of in-game currency for in-game item purchases.
  • Two-month premium account to MechWarrior Online at launch: Earn XP & C-Bills faster.
  • Founder’s Tag – sets your status apart from the crowd & get noticed in-game and on the forums.
  • Early access to the game along with Founder’s assets availability starts July 17th

If you choose the $30 VETERAN Founder’s Package, you’ll receive:

  • $40 value of in-game currency for in-game item purchases.
  • One-month premium account to MechWarrior Online at launch: Earn XP & C-Bills faster.
  • Founder’s Tag – sets your status apart from the crowd and get noticed in-game and on the forums.
  • Early access to the game along with Founder’s assets availability starts July 17th.

So if you know that you’re going to be playing MechWarrior Online, these packages are probably great news for you.  They go on sale June 19th, so get ready!

We still don’t have any word on when MechWarrior Online is officially launching, so we can’t say how much early access time you’ll get before the crowds rush in, but the release date is definitely getting close!
