“First goddamn week of winter.”
MacReady – The Thing(1982)The Thing was one of the Greatest Science Fiction Horrors of the 80’s, filled with Heroic one Liners and a real in depth narrative with truly likable Characters. So it was never an easy job to work up the courage to try and create a Prequel, let alone actually Succeeded. ‘The Thing’(1982) is now living on with its Prologue story ‘The Thing’(2011), and putting aside the confusing use of titles and the lack of a MacReady(Kurt Russel). It doesn’t look that bad.
The story of the prequel will be showing the first emergence of the same alien from the original ‘The Thing’. If you’ve seen the John Carpenter original, you’ll remember the footage the crew found of the Norwegians who discovered the Ship & Specimen under the Ice and defrosted it. Who are also in the start of the film Chasing the Dog and trying to shoot it from a helicopter, which leads the Thing to the Macready American crew. This story will be a more in depth look at what happened to the first crew, and with actors like Mary Elizabeth Winstead & Joel Edgerton. You gotta be a little interested in where the story can go.
Here is the First trailer for the Prequel to ‘The Thing’, lets see if it can give off that same Carpenter sense of tension.
All we know is that were gonna need some Rope, a Flame and a lot of Wire.
The Thing(2011) hits Cinemas December 2nd
