Loadout Brings Paint and Blood to PS4 This Year

Loadout, a multiplayer shooter from studio Edge of Reality, is coming before 2015 and bringing plenty of absurdity along. The trailer below releases ahead of this weekend’s Playstation Experience, and showcases a taste of the possible madness and violence.

This online shooter will, if the trailer is any indication, be as whacky a title as there has been in a while, but will also come with a lot of customization. The preview shows off many different gun parts that can be mixed and matched while each character is also able to be dressed, painted and otherwise changed to fit the player’s desires. Loadout will also be a Playstation 4 exclusive, and have some goodies to hand out for Playstation Plus subscribers.

Loadout users who also have Playstation Plus will receive the “SuperFan Bonus Pack.” This loving package will contain blue and white body paint, ala PS4 colors, that are, according to their official blog, slightly radioactive. Loadout  will be coming in a free-to-play format to all PS4 users on Dec. 16.

Sony, given their recent track record regarding free-to-play games, probably is hoping for a smooth launch to take attention away from the ongoing Driveclub PS Plus Edition’s absence. Edge of Reality, the developers behind Loadout, have quite a resume as a company with their fingerprints all over Dragon Age: Origins, the Mass Effect Trilogy collection and other games dating back to the Nintendo 64 days. This list of successes probably inspires some hope within Sony that the recent mistakes of other development teams can be avoided here.

Those that are attending the Playstation Experience this weekend in Las Vegas will have a chance to play Loadout, among other titles, on the show floor. The Experience will also be streamed on the official Playstation Twitch site starting Dec. 6 at 10 AM Pacific Time.
