You Can Play L.A. Noire in 4K and VR This Fall

L.A. Noire Coming to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and HTC Vive

Rockstar Games is bringing some love to Nintendo’s Switch with the release of L.A. Noire on November 14th. Additionally, the game will be available for PS4 and Xbox One. The father of the Grand Theft Auto series will also release an HTC Vive exclusive version of the 2011 detective title.

Dubbed L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files, the HTC Vive version features seven cases from the original title all rebuilt for a unique VR experience.

Originally released way back in 2011 for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, the game is set in in the seedy and violent underbelly of 1940’s Los Angeles where a new detective, and decorated veteran, Cole Phelps investigates a series of criminal cases inspired by real-world events.

As players solve cases, they brought deeper into the darkness that is a post-war L.A.. The game was even an Official Selection of the Tribeca Film Festival for its cinematic approach to gameplay and narrative.

L.A. Noire was developed using a facial capture technology called MotionScan in order to bring the characters to life.

Here’s what said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games, had to say about this announcement:

“We’re excited to bring L.A. Noire’s unique mix of real detective work, classic Hollywood atmosphere and thrilling action to these new platforms. Now with a choice of spectacular virtual reality, stunning 4K, or the freedom of portable play, these enhanced versions are a perfect opportunity for players to experience this richly detailed world in a whole new way.”

On the other hand, the seven cases featured in L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files for HTC Vive have been rebuilt specifically for virtual reality in order to showcase a unique interactive experience as a virtual detective.

The PS4 and Xbox One versions of Rockstar Games’ 2011 surprise hit will include the core game along with all previously released DLC. To take full advantage of the consoles’ technology, L.A. Noire will benefit from technical enhancements such as enhanced lighting and clouds, new cinematic camera angles and high resolution textures. The game will run in 1080p on PS4 and Xbox One while PS4 Pro and future Xbox One X owners will be able to enjoy the recreated city of Angels in beautiful 4K.

The Switch version will feature unique enhancements such as a Joy-Con mode, gesture-based controls, HD rumble, touch screen controls and new camera angles.
