Krillbite Studios Announce Among the Sleep for PlayStation 4

Among the Sleep is a first-person Indie horror game that takes place behind the eyes of a toddler, who is searching for his mother with the help of his talking teddy bear. Tripping over your own feet as you run helplessly from the monsters in the dark makes this one terrifying experience.

Among the Sleep is small, Norway-based, Krillbite Studios first Indie game and had a successful launch on PC; well now it has been announced that Among the Sleep will be coming to the PlayStation 4 on December 10th.

In a blog post on the PlayStation website, Kristina Halvorsen, the Chief of Marketing and Community Development at Krillbite Studios, announced the exciting news and shared with the readers why it has taken the studio such a long time to release the highly anticipated game to the PlayStation 4.

When Among the Sleep was released for the PC, Krillbite Studios created the psychological horror game with the 3.0 Unity Engine. However, since it’s 2014 release, Unity has upgraded to its current 5.2 version; hence, Krillbite Studios had to re-make Among the Sleep in order for it to be as aesthetically pleasing as it has been since day one.

[blockquote right=”pull-right” cite=”http://blog.us.playstation.com/2015/09/29/among-the-sleep-coming-to-ps4-on-december-10th/”]”One of the coolest things in the PlayStation version of the game is the full audio-visual upgrade- Among the Sleep now has even better graphics and an even better sound experience. We think frame rate is an essential part of a good game experience and have worked hard to get the game to run at a proper 60 frames per second. This was probably the biggest part of the upgrade and it makes for a super smooth experience and does a lot for immersion!”[/blockquote]

As well as the graphics being updated with the newest version of Unity, the physics engine was also redone for the PlayStation version of Among the Sleep and took the team quite a bit of time to work out the kinks. Halvorsen admitted in her blog post that while it was fun to have apples flying around your head as you explored, it took away from the atmosphere that the team had worked so hard on creating.

Keep your eyes peeled this Holiday season on the PlayStation store for your own digital copy of the game.  No price point was mentioned in the blog but Among the Sleep can currently be purchased on Steam for S19.99 USD.

Among the Sleep will finally be ready to make its console debut on the PlayStation 4 this December.
