Killer Instinct Will Use the Cloud for Updates and Pre-Order News

Double Helix Games, developer of Killer Instinct for the Xbox One, said that patch updates to the roster for Killer Instinct will all happen through the cloud.By pushing the updates through the cloud players will not be required to sit through an update to play their game. Instead, updates will automatically be pushed through in the background.

Producer Torin Rettig said the following in an interview with GameInformer. “Basically the game checks for the latest version of the gameplay’s parameters and automatically updates if it’s a new version. No download or confirmation dialogue necessary and the files themselves are so small you’d never notice the difference.” Double Helix says that some roster updates to Killer Instinct will be too large to push through the cloud, so on occasion players will be required to sit through a download. Like new characters, for instance.

In other news, the Killer Instinct Tournament Edition 2 FightStick by Mad Catz is up for pre-order. The Fight Stick will launch alongside Killer Instinct on launch day of the Xbox One this coming month on November 22. The Fight Stick can be found on the Mad Catz official site and is available for $200. It will feature multi-setting LED lighting effects, removable cable, easy access to the sticks innards and an on board screwdriver with swappable heads, and the Killer Instinct artwork itself is easily removable and replaceable.
