Word is that there’s a Just Cause 3 multiplayer mod in development. The Just Cause 2 Multiplayer mod was endlessly successful. With a peak player count on Steam of 10,436 at one moment, 1000+ player servers, and peak players still on the rise in the last month, it is easy to see the popularity of the multiplayer sandbox which this mod allowed.
As such, when Just Cause 3 was announced, the absence of multiplayer disappointed many people, disappointment satiated earlier this week as the same mod team announced their newest work.
On December 31st 2015, the user “Jaxm” announced on the Just Cause Multiplayer forum the current development and upcoming arrival of the Just Cause 3 Multiplayer mod. It was accompanied by a trailer, a comment from the developers, but alas, lacked a release date.
The developer stated that they’re “incredibly excited” to unveil the progress made on the Just Cause 3 multiplayer mod so far and they promised to update the eager fans on the status of the development.
It is at least certain that this modding team has beaten Avalanche Studios to the punch when it comes to the Just Cause 3 multiplayer mod, their only effort being a statement in November of 2014 alongside it’s announcement, stating that “[While it will not feature multiplayer at launch] Maybe sometime down the line, we’ll take Rico into the modern world of multiplaying”.
It is now a matter of waiting to see whether Avalanche Studios will extend the same support for the Mod Developers on this occasion as they did for Just Cause 2, or whether this is too much, too fast.
