Next month, players can look forward to downloading four more free titles thanks to Microsoft’s Games With Gold program. June also marks the three year anniversary for when Microsoft first initiated their program.
Goat Simulator
First up on Xbox One, Goat Simulator will be available throughout the entire month. Brought to us by Coffee Stain Studios and Double Eleven, Goat Simulator basically has the player going around a suburban town, causing as much destruction as possible or to just screw around with the rag-doll physics. This is one of those games where people sit down to play for a good laughter. Oh, and the goat can lick whatever it wants too.
The Crew
Next on Xbox One, we have Ivory Tower and Ubisoft’s The Crew, an open-world racing game where people speed across the United States, racing rival players or attempting to beat a high score for a particular event. The Crew melds multiplayer and single player experiences together, which does require a constant online connection. Troy Baker also provides his voice for the main protagonist Alex, as he tries to infiltrate criminal groups. The Crew will be available from June 16th-July 15th.
Thanks to Microsoft’s backwards compatibility, Xbox One owners can download and play the Xbox 360 selection as well.
Super Meat Boy
Team Meat’s Super Meat Boy will only be available for the first half of the month. This challenging platformer tests the player’s patience and skills as they traverse through the game’s 300+ levels. Replacing Super Meat Boy is XCOM: Enemy Unknown. XCOM will remain free from June 16th to the 30th. Developed by Fireaxis Games and publisher by 2K Games, XCOM received highly positive remarks from both critics and players alike. Known for its crushing difficulty, this game will make players work for their victories.
It goes without saying that an active Xbox Live Gold subscription is needed to download these titles. Once downloaded however, these games stick around even if the subscription expires.
