Hello Games Confirms More Free Updates for No Man’s Sky

No Man's Sky

In a blog post, the team behind No Man’s Sky has confirmed that they are working on further free updates for all astronauts out there. They assure us that this is only the beginning.

All things considered, it seems that No Man’s Sky did not put its best foot forward when it came out. A game that, despite of what its creators may have claimed in the past, expected to be a milestone in video game history, arrived with a myriad of bugs that have been already addressed through different patches. According to Hello Games, a special community/support management team arrived on site to help them categorizing and addressing those faults by priority. The task seems to be ongoing and we may see more on that road. However, they have also confirmed the existence of an ambitious plan of free updates.

No Man’s Sky: Expanding a Boundless Universe

As they write on their blog, the studio is busy targeting and dealing with the status of the game as it is. When those issues get resolved, we should expect free updates which “will improve, expand and build on the No Man’s Sky universe.” They are not mentioning what those expansions are all about – on the other hand, maybe they should not. High expectations and unrestricted hype seem to have done more harm to them than good. On the other hand, you cannot deny the fact that Hello Games seem to truly care about their vision. They had one and, for all that’s worth, they seem to be committed to reach it.

This announcement ties up with what our colleague Jake Valentine rightly mentioned a few days ago. The fact that some of these errors could have been prevented by allowing No Man’s Sky to accept its time limitations and embrace the Early Access concept. “What matters now, as always,” says the blog post, “is what we do rather than what we say.” They say that this is just the beginning. And we cannot but wish for that to be true.
