Halo 4 Will Come to the Xbox 360, Not the Next Gen Console

Since the reveal trailer at E3 this year there’s been a lot of speculation about which console Halo 4 would be debuting on. The lack of information regarding the games engine sparked a conversation on the NeoGaf forums that discussed the possibility of a next gen release, well these remuours have been dispelled.

To quell any further confusion Frank O’Conner, head of 343 Industries, stated that “”Halo 4 will be on Xbox 360 and use a modified core of the Halo engine(s). Not really a singular engine since it goes through fairly radical evolutions all the time.”

I’m sure this will come as welcome news to the wealth of Halo fans out there as they no longer need to worry about shelling out on a new console to get the latest Halo installment. Interestingly, if Halo 4 is set to be released on the 360 then this could hint at a latest possible release date. The rumors circulating that The next Xbox iteration will be released Holiday 2012 could mean we’ll be seeing Halo 4 sooner than we may have expected.
