God of War, Sly Cooper Collections Come to Vita

The Sly Cooper and God of War franchise collections will join Vita’s stable of HD re-releases this year. It may be an odd combination, but the cartoon thief and the infamously angry Kratos will come to Vita in May.

The God of War Collection, containing the original God of War and its sequel, will be available first, available in North America as soon as May 6th. Sly fans will have to wait a bit longer, as that collection, featuring the first three games in the series, releases May 27.

Both of these collections feature some of the best games of the PlayStation 2 generation. As someone who experienced them for the first time in recent years, I can say with confidence that they have aged remarkably well. Both God of War games suffer from vague puzzles and some unpolished platforming, but the combat is timeless. The Sly games have a wonderful sense of style, and all three are wonderful examples of action platformers, past and present. Let’s hope they hold up just as well on Vita as they did on PlayStation 3.
