Gamification and Professional Networking — Identified Raises $21 Million in Series B Funding

If you’re new to the idea of gamification, essentially, all it’s doing is taking processes and ideas used to develop games and implementing them into non-game related content. Think of apps like Foursquare, Get Glue, and Raptr.

What we have here with gamification, is a modern way to present ones self professionally online with a bit more help from Identified. If you care to learn a bit more in depth about the idea of gamification, take a look at our other post Turning Real-World Experiences into a Mini-Game of Sorts with Gamification.

Identified has recently raised $21 million in Series B funding. That in it of  itself is an impressive feat for any company, let alone a start-up company. With a bit of help from Identified you can boost your score, much like Klout, except Identified is geared more towards the professional world. At a glance, an employer can see the places you’ve worked, your education, and more. It’s a short and sweet version of a resume for the growing online world.

Identified has recently teamed up with leading investors VantagePoint Capital Partners and Capricorn Investment Group. They’ve helped to bump up Identified’s Series A financials from $1.5 million to a whopping $21 million in Series B. The reason there’s been such a huge jump most likely correlates with the fact that the Identified user base has grown 525% in the past five months. A very large portion of the user base is part of the Facebook generation and 90% of them are under the age of 29.

This much growth in such a small window of time is an impressive feat for a company that is barely around two years old.
We’re redefining professional identity online for a generation of people who have grown up using Facebook, social media and playing games online. For young users, job boards and existing professional networking experiences are boring. We are committed to building an experience that is incredibly engaging and informative for our users by taking the principles of game design and applying them to managing your career.
Brendan Wallace, co-founder and co-CEO of Identified said.

By combining the Identified experience with gamification techniques it makes it easier for young users to keep coming back for more, and improve their Identified score to impress potential employees. A huge congratulations to the fantastic team over at Identified, we wish you nothing but the best in the future. Cheers.

For more information on this recent milestone read a post straight from the man himself, Brendan Wallace. And if you haven’t done so, check your professional score with Identified. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain.
