Gamescom 2014 | Xbox Buckles in for Screamride

During their Gamescom 2014 presser, Microsoft announced Screamride, an amusement park simulator, for the Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Amusement park games are nothing new to the world of gaming, just look at Roller Coaster Tycoon for an example, but the premise of Screamride is something eye-catching. The trailer mentions that we’re judged by screams, indicating that we’re given a green light to go hog wild with our ride designs.

One of the drawbacks to creating roller coasters in Roller Coaster Tycoon was my tendency to design rides that were a little too extreme for guests. By little, I mean a lot; they were terrified of my creations. That doesn’t seem to be an issue with Screamride though.

Could this be a masochist’s dream come true? It certainly looks that way. Screamride appears to be an interesting take on the theme park genre. It releases Spring 2015 for Xbox One and Xbox 360.
