Outlast 2 footage has been released from PAX East and involves lots of cornfields. Oh, and also terrifying people chasing you down in pitch black darkness, but that’s a side-note.
The first 5 minutes of footage doesn’t tell us a whole lot but it certainly looks a lot like the first game. The first Outlast was released in 2013 to critical acclaim and was widespread on the Internet for being a terrifying game.
Both games are essentially first-person survival horror games where you play as a journalist with a camera. It involves a lot of running and hiding. If anything, it’s essentially one huge game of hide and go seek where you simply hope you will not die. You don’t get weapons. You run and you keep running.
According to Gamespot, “it has an atmosphere that inspires paranoia.” The new environment of the game certainly ensures a new sense of paranoia. The first game took place in an asylum but the more open-world cornfield environment in this game will certainly be something quite different from what we got last time.
Outlast 2 has a planned release for Fall 2016 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Are you excited for Outlast 2? Did you enjoy the new gameplay footage? What did you think of the first Outlast game? Let us know in the comments below!
