Ah Facebook, the social media service that is slowly inching its way into every facet of your life (and intermingling it with others). Well the social networking behemoth has now announced a critical partnership with film studio, Miramax, to provide a new app called the Miramax eXperience. This is all a part of Facebook’s movie streaming partnership with Miramax, which will also integrate the social network’s credit system most used on their gaming platform.
The eXperience is currently live, and has 20 titles for rent here in the US (10 in the UK and Turkey while the rest of the world is on a proverbial waiting list).
Among the titles available in the US include Pulp Fiction, Good Will Hunting, Chicago and Kill Bill, for starters, and if you want to rent any of the 20 movies, it will cost you 30 Facebook credits – which is the equivalent of $3.
In order to access Miramax eXperience, you can do so via a smart TV, a notebook or desktop, a smartphone, Google TV, or even via an iPad as long as there is a browser-based player running. We will not jump the gun and call this a Netflix killer, but let’s just say the Netflix price hike may have caused a very opportune time for this announcement.
