Everything You Need to Know About Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor is just around the corner. To make sure everyone’s all caught up with Monolith’s latest Lord of the Rings outing, Warner Brothers Interactive has released a brand new trailer highlighting each and every feature of the game.

Reviews for Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor are being flushed out the door today, and while critics are generally positive about Monolith’s latest title, there’s always the possibility that someone is far behind on what the game is truly about.

In order to cope with such a rare issue – seriously, who hasn’t been following this gem – Warner Brothers Interactive has stitched together a basic “101 Trailer” that elaborates on most of the game’s significant assets. The trailer will fill you in on Talion, the protagonist of Mordor’s adventure, and explain some backstory on his demise and why his fate is linked with that of a vengeful Wraith. Some of the game’s cast will also be revealed, though to avoid spoilers, we’ll leave certain names unsaid.

The game’s combat mechanics and innovative Nemesis System are also detailed in the trailer. Whether you’re a stealth-oriented player or love facing your foes face-to-face, the core combat will attract every type of player. Add to that the Nemesis System’s intriguing promise that no two games or playthroughs will ever be similar, and it’s great stuff to learn about.

The trailer closes out with a small glance over on the game’s creepy creatures and pre-order bonuses. That’s right, major retailers such as Best Buy, Walmart, GameStop, Amazon, and Steam are all offering up some great pre-order exclusives in the form of runes; modifiers that will help strengthen the abilities and powers of your three main weapons: bow, dagger, and sword. As a final note, the trailer also hints at the game’s Season Pass, though it seems a little unbalanced between post-game narrative expansions and mindless challenge trials. You can read more about the Season Pass here if you desire.

So there you have it. Now that you’re all filled in on Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, what are you waiting for?

Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor will be available on September 30th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The game has been delayed on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 and won’t be hitting shelves until November 18th.
