Escape Dead Island Announced by Deep Silver

Deep Silver, in partnership with Swedish studio Fatshark, announced their latest entry into the Dead Island franchise, Escape Dead Island. It is slightly different from previous entries in the series as it uses a 3rd person perspective, as opposed to Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide‘s 1st person view. It is not a direct sequel, as Dead island 2 will also be releasing in Spring 2015. Deep Silver claims that it will focus on a more stealthy, slower type of gameplay and tell a different kind of story.

You play as a slightly generic looking hero, Cliff Caylow, a documentarian who suffers from hallucinations. Your aim is to explore the zombie filled island in the Banoi Archipelago and pursue the reason for the zombie outbreak. As you unlock more tools and abilities you will be able to explore more of the Island. The game takes place after events of the first Dead island game but before the start of the second.

On the Playstation Blog, Deep Silver narrative producer Alex Toplanksy described Escape Dead Island as a “mystery game with a fresh perspective on the Dead Island universe.”

Escape Dead Island will be releasing on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC in Autumn of 2014. Will you be picking it up or having you fully transitioned to next-gen? Let us know in the comments bellow.
