Wizard Of Oz Inspired Endless Runner, Run Dorothy Run, Announced For PSVR

Run Dorothy Run

A new female-led indie studio straight out Vancouver, Canada, Virtro Entertainment, announced a new endless runner/rhythm hybrid game titled Run Dorothy Run; a cheeky take on the classic Wizard of Oz novel. The game is currently set for a Fall 2017 release for PSVR.

Run Dorothy Run is set to the sound of an electro-swing soundtrack. Players will need to run, jive and bop their way through the wonderful world of Oz; all with a first person perspective. Players will blaze through Emerald City, the Scorched Plains, the Wicked Witch’s castle; among other Oz inspired levels. Obviously, the run won’t be easy as the path will be filled with enemies.

Through the various areas, players, as Dorothy, will be able to collect magic crystals. The crystals activate power-ups on their way to unravel the mysterious alliance the Wizard of Oz protagonist has done with the Wizard in order to take down the maybe-not-so-Wicked Witch.

Here’s what Jordan Brighton, Virtro’s cofounder and CEO, had to say:

“Right from the early days of development, we brought in play-testers each week to give us insights we could use to evolve the game into the rich story and immersive experience we have today. We’ve had hundreds of play-testers, ranging from total newbies to VR aficionados. They loved the actual VR experience, but just as importantly, they loved the zany story-telling. Let’s just say ‘Ozzy’ and ‘Effy’ – who we know from the book as the Wizard and the Wicked Witch – emerge as you never imagined.”

Virtro Entertainment’s Run Dorothy Run will launch first on PSVR for PS4 with additional VR enabled platforms to follow.
