Electronic Arts have decided to pull the Medal of Honor franchise out of its game development rotation due to the poor reception of Medal of Honor: Warfighter.
“We struggled with two challenges: The slowdown that impacted the entire sector and the poor critical commercial reception of Medal of Honor: Warfighter… Medal of Honor was an obvious miss. The game was solid, but the focus on combat authenticity did not resonate with consumers,” Said CEO, Peter Moore.
The reviews of Warfighter were pretty polarized. Most of the reviews, however, were negative. It’s not that Warfighter was a bad game, or an excellent game, but the negative scores that it received were not well deserved. The game had a solid campaign, and the online, while still having some bugs during launch, was pretty solid as well and looked amazing in ultra-settings on PC.
Warfighter originally released in October 2012. It’s a shame that a title that has been out for less than four months has to be abandoned so quickly.
“This one is behind us now. We are taking Medal of Honor out of the rotation, and have a plan to bring year-over-year continuity to our shooter offerings,” said Moore.
